Link checkers can get your link deleted - By Adam Sorensen
I know it’s difficult to manage links. There are link partners bailing on you, links changing pages, sites going down, etc. I currently manage 1000s of link exchanges so I know how difficult it can be. I do employ a link checking application, but I don’t immediately disable links when I see a flag for reciprocation. Why? Because I know that sites occassionaly go down temporarily and link pages can change.
I know that it requires a bit of work, but I would recommend manually following up on links that are not reciprocating instead of an automated email. One thing you don’t want to do is annoy a loyal link partner with high PR and quality content because your link checker spidered the site when the server was temporarily down.
