If you are using Digital Point’s Co-op Ad Network you know that it does give you a competitive advantage in some search engines. But it will not give you an advantage in Google and this is why: People talk about a google sandbox, and that their sites are being held down in the rankings or something. What I think is really happening is that Google is letting your backlinks mature or ripen over time. Just because you get tons of backlinks doesn’t mean you’re going to instantly fly up the SERPs. Google lets those backlinks mature over time and gives you more credit for them as they stay on the pages they are placed. This means that any backlinks you obtain this month may not have full weight in Google for 3-4 months later. In my opinion this clearly explains the so called “sandbox” affect.
Ok, that’s really interesting and could be an extensive blog in and of itself, but I need to get back to the Ad Network. The reason the Ad Network will never give you a push in Google is because all the links in the Network are dynamic and change on a page refresh. (However, I think they’ve added functionality now that’ll let you do hard links. Please follow up with Co-op Ad Network for details). So, the Google spider comes around and sees your link on a given page, and that page is indexed into Google’s database. The next time the spider comes around, because the links dynamically change, the links are different and this time your link is not there. Google can not give you added weight for your original link because it is now gone. Consequently, you’re 100s or 1000s of one way backlinks from the Ad Network are of little use on the SEO front in Google. However, they do have an affect on other search engines, but just lately I’ve seen a decline there as well.
Ok, so here’s the conclusion. If you want a serious jump in the rankings the Co-op Ad Network is not going to do it on Google. If you want a free and simple way to get advertising space the Co-op Ad Network is a great option.
