Google’s Future and SEO’s Death by Adam Sorensen
I read an article the other day about the death of SEO. The point behind the article is that search engines are constantly tweaking their algorithms to eliminate spam, and eventually all obvious manipulation of search engines will be flagged and devalued accordingly. Why would doing this be so important to Google? To provide the most relevant results? Yeah, that’s what they’d like us to think.
If Google can push all sites that are aggressively marketing through the organic channel down in the rankings, where will these sites turn for marketing their sites online? Hmmm… Google Adwords maybe? Ahh, yes. All Google needs to do is make their results look acceptable to the average user while pushing out all flagged, optimized sites and the revenues continue to skyrocket.
Does mean the death of SEO? I don’t think so. I think there will always be a way to manipulate search engines. The landscape will change and SEOs will adapt accordingly. I do think it’ll get tougher though. The good SEOs will rise to the top, the rest will use Google AdWords.
