The Google Adsense Bubble by Adam Sorensen
Sure there’s a lot of webmasters out there making a few bucks off of Google Adsense, but are the advertisers getting a good return on their investment? In my opinion the cost of adsense clicks is way over priced. Yes, I know that the price is market driven, but are advertiser so busy clamoring for coverage that they are not seriously tracking ROI on content ads?
Of all the campaigns that I have managed on Google Adwords, I have never seen a positive return on content ads. When I was at the SES conference in San Jose last year I talked to a professional internet marketer that focused specifically on PPC campaigns. She said that she never uses Google content ads in her PPC campaigns because it has never brought the ROI that her clients demand.
I think the Google Adsense bubble is about to burst. So what will bring about this burst? Tracking. Detailed tracking on content ads. As more webmasters efficiently track content, they will find that the ROI is not there. PPC marketers will either bag Google content ads all together or pay less for their clicks.
