Confused Injury Terms

One of the most common injuries people sustain is a sprained ankle, but few people actually know what it means. They know it involves rolling your ankle and the it getting extremely swollen and tender, that isn’t the whole story though. First, something most people do not realize is the difference between a sprain and a strain. When you sprain something, you injure ligaments, whereas when you strain something, you injure a muscle. Our ankles have a ton of ligaments, and so it is easy to see why there would be a great chance of spraining them. You can prevent ankle sprains, or at least make them less severe by doing exercises to increase the strength in your ligaments.
