People underestimate the responsibilities that come with owning a dog. It really is similar to have a child. Obviously a kid is a little more expensive, but a puppy takes similar amounts of time to train, feed, play with, etc. It is extremely sad when you purchase a dog and then have to take it back because you didn’t understand the time commitment. It happens much more often than you might think. I am not sure which is worse though, taking a dog back or neglecting it for its entire life. Either way, people don’t understand that you need to have the time to own a puppy. It is a real responsibility, and isn’t just fun and fetch.
