I have had similar indexing issues as well, one site might get all it's pages indexed in a matter of hours, while others might take several months to be indexed.

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now and (for me) it was confirmed when I moved my old blogger account to a brand new domain on wordpress.
I used no redirects and didn't inform any of my current inlinks that I was moving URL (I'd left the company and they still needed an SEO blog so it seemed churlish to take visitors that I'd built up on their time / wages).
I did however inform my social networks of the move and had it stumbled etc. Low and behold, within 1 day I was ranking for 'search engine consultant' at number 3 in Google.
(mysteriously I then dropped out of the top pages so maybe social networking sites just boost your rankings for a short period!?!?!)
